Get to Know me! |
Parents deserve to know who's educating their children! |
,Hi! I am pleased to welcome you to my website. For those of you who do not know me, I was born in Jackson and grew up attending the Michigan Center Schools along with six siblings. After graduating, I went to Eastern Michigan University and earned my Bachelor's in Elementary Education. I then moved to South Dakota and worked for three years in two different Native American (reservation) schools. I also met my husband, Dean, and brought him home to Michigan with me.
I taught second grade at Arnold School for a year, got laid off, and finished my Special Education Master's at Eastern Michigan University. After four years as a special education teacher at Western Middle School, I moved with my family to Roy, Washington, where I taught both 6th and 2nd grade for three years.
In 1995, I returned to Michigan Center as a Special Education teacher. I have been involved in Special Education at both the Junior High and High School. I love my job and my students (most of the time). I have transitioned from teaching almost every subject in my room to moving out into other classrooms and co-teaching for much of my day. I use the term co-teaching loosely; I have a strong background in English and Reading but I have to learn along with the students in Math and Science classrooms. I feel privileged to work with such supportive teachers and parents. This really is a great community!
My husband, Dean, and I live in the Michigan Center district on the same farm where I grew up. My two grown children both graduated from Michigan Center. My husband and I attend many of the school events- athletic, musical, and recreational. We love our home here and enjoy being involved in the Michigan Center schools and community. We are proud and grateful to belong to the Cardinal family!
